The R_volution PlayerMini is a compact media player compatible with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ powered by the Amlogic S905X4-K chipset.

​The R_volution PlayerMini is a powerful set-top box designed to stream movies, TV shows and concert files from a NAS or USB-connected external hard drive. It includes the popular R_video Media Center application to manage your video library. The R_volution PlayerMini offers compatibility with 4K video files in HDR and delivers stunning picture and sound quality to meet the needs of the most demanding home theater enthusiasts.

Dolby Vision

Our media player supports direct playback of full 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc images (BDMV and ISO) with menus in Dolby Vision (MEL and FEL), as well as various file formats including MKV, MP4, TS, and M2TS. All popular Dolby Vision profiles (P4, P5, P7 MEL and FEL, P8) are supported. The extended Dolby Vision metadata is used and transmitted to the TV to improve picture quality.

VS10 Video Processing

The advanced Dolby Vision VS10 video processing engine ensures maximum image quality when playing any type of content (SDR, HDR, Dolby Vision) with any type of video output signal (SDR, HDR, Dolby Vision), improves the SDR/HDR/Dolby Vision conversion quality, minimizes the effect of "posterization" ("banding") due to more advanced 12-bit video processing. This gives benefits even when using the media player with older TVs that do not support Dolby Vision.

HDR10+

The PlayerMini is compatible with HDR10+ technology. HDR10+ is the latest and most advanced HDR technology, building upon HDR10 to further enhance the viewing experience. HDR10+ signals not just the dynamic range (the ratio of light to dark) of video content on a scene-by-scene (or even frame-by-frame) basis, it also provides, with minimal metadata, the scene characteristics between bright and dark so that important detail can be kept. This enables displays to reproduce images more realistically, adhering to the creator’s intent. Whereas static HDR, such as HDR10, utilizes static tone mapping uniformly across the duration of the content, HDR10+ employs dynamic tone mapping to optimize each scene, individually increasing brightness and adding contrast to fit within a display’s capabilities.

4K UHD

R_volution PlayerMini is compatible with 4K Ultra HD video content in HDR, HDR10 and Dolby Vision with Source-Based Tone Mapping (SBTM). Your videos can be upscaled to 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution, which is 4 times the resolution of Full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080).

Great Performance

The PlayerMini benefits from the Hi-End version of the latest S905X4 multimedia processor with integrated Dolby Vision VS10 engine. The main processor includes four ARM A55 cores. Hardware acceleration improves the performance of the R_video user interface and speeds up video indexing. The GPU has been upgraded to Mali G31 MP2. Combined with ultra-fast LPDDR4X and eMMC, this delivers blazing overall system performance. 

DC12 Input.

The R_volution PlayerMini offers a DC12 connector with included power supply. But it also allows the use of an external audiophile power supply (not included) in place of the supplied power supply, to meet the needs of the most high-end home theater users.

Real Cinema

Cinema movies are shot at 24 frames per second (fps), but most video or Blu-ray files are recorded at 23.976fps. Today, many multimedia players output a video signal at 24,000Hz. However, this conversion generates problems of stuttering, in particular on video projectors. R_volution Real Cinema technology maintains the original frame rate of the file, whether in 23.976fps or 24,000fps until the final display in order to enjoy the same fluidity as in the cinema and preserve the original integrity of the work displayed. On the other hand, thanks to autoframerate, the player automatically switches to the correct output frequency depending on the frame rate of the file, namely: 23.976Hz, 24Hz, 29.97Hz, 30Hz, 50Hz and 59.94Hz (60Hz) depending on the type of file being played.

Dolby Multistream Decoder MS12

Thanks to the Dolby Multistream Decoder MS12, the R_volution PlayerMini is capable of decoding high-end audio content, including Dolby Digital Plus™, Dolby Digital®, HE AAC, all AAC bitstreams and Dolby AC-4. It provides full Dolby metadata support for Dolby AC-4, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital, and the Dolby implementation of HE AAC v2 audio formats. Dolby MS12 generates standard Dolby Audio™ bitstreams or LPCM bitstreams up to 7.1 channels based on the content of any incoming audio format. For example, a video file encoded in AAC 5.1 is decoded and converted to an LPCM 5.1 bitstream or a standard two-channel downmix, depending on the audio settings of your R_volution media player. Whith this powerful feature, you can enjoy your AAC 5.1 encoded files (or other codecs) on your AV receiver, even if it is not compatible.
